How it works...

Ok, it is quite simple - I made a simple database driven subsection where shareware and freeware authors can submit their downloads in several categories.

These downloads are then checked and aproved by our team (usually - by myself). If we think the download is good enough to be listed, we approve it. Right after the editor's approval the respective product (program) becomes available for downloading...

...But because there are bad people, there is another check we perform on every product submitted: we check all these downloads for viruses with 2 different antivirus programs. And if it is reported as "clean" after the antivirus check, we will mark the respective download (product) as "Clean"...

However, keep in mind that not every download is checked right after approval, which means that it is possible some download to be published but not tested - in this case you'll see red alert that the respective download isn't yet tested for viruses.

And one last note: even if some download is tested and reported as "clean", there is still no warranty that everything is OK. Imagine that we test some download for viruses today, but tomorrow it may become infected (this sounds like paranoia, but please, be paranoid and test everything you download from the web!)...
